Comparing Smart Tint® vs Gauzy
Recently, we encountered a unique opportunity to closely examine and compare two products in the smart glass industry: Smart Tint® and Gauzy. Our journey began when we received a Gauzy product for repair & trimming. This incident offered an insightful window into the distinct manufacturing approaches and quality differences between these two products.

Gauzy: A Study in Contrasts
Gauzy, another player in the smart glass market, presents a different approach. During our repair of a Gauzy product, we observed that it uses copper busbar wiring to power the film. This design choice is significant for several reasons. Firstly, copper busbars are fully exposed on both ends of the product, which can lead to potential durability issues.
Another critical aspect of Gauzy’s manufacturing process is the inherent vulnerability of copper to oxidation. Over time, oxidized copper can produce acid, which not only degrades the film but also compromises the overall integrity of the product.
